A little about myself..
I have been married to my amazing and sarcastic husband for over 18 years and we’ve been together for… 21? 22.. years… its been a long time…
I grew up outside of Calgary on a hobby farm. Growing up on a farm definitely teaches you a few things! From helping fix broken fences, gardening, working with animals, cooking, baking, preserving… The list goes on. All of these amazing life experiences molded me into the person I am today. I love learning how things work, why they work this way, and getting my hands dirty!
While I was in university I worked in a bog box home improvement store. Fast forward a few years later, I was managing my own stores, having fun running seminars and how-tos, and learning enough to be dangerous. Combine these 12 years with my childhood, I truly believe I can figure out how to make just about anything! I also understand what tools are necessary, and what might be more of a gimmick. I will share my opinions on what is a necessity, what is nice to have and what’s just not needed.
I’ve been in an operational type role for the last 20+years, and making and creating things is a wonderful outlet for me. I’ve learned a lot of tricks over the years, as well as the bravery to try making almost anything! The worst that can happen is a hilarious Pinterest fail… So why not go for it!
I have owned and operated Cheddar Dogs (dog treats and cakes) for over 11 years now. And last year launched my first of two Etsy stores! Dogs and Dorks and Dani Makes It. And now I’ve decided to start a blog to share so many of the learnings I’ve had over the years!
