A lot of dogs love veggies! Adding veggies to your dogs diet can be as simple as cutting up some carrots and tossing Fido a couple! But what if your dog is a full on meat-atarian? I have a couple of simple tips and recipes that will have all dogs drooling for!

Some common veggies that are healthy and safe for dogs:

  • Carrots
  • Cucumber
  • Zucchini
  • Brussels Sprouts
  • Cauliflower
  • Celery
  • Sweet Potato

Cut these up into small bite size treats! Offer as a training treat or add to their dinner. Always keep in mind your dogs weight, volume of daily food intake, and consult with your veterinarian if your pup had any medical issues.

5 Easy Ways to Sneak Veggies In!

If your pup theatrically spits veggies across the room when you try to sneak them into their meals. Here’s a couple of easy things to try !

  1. Blend and mix into bone broth or yogurt! Blend the carrots, Brussels sprouts, sweet potato in an ‘apple sauce’. Then mix in some homemade bone broth ( no seasoning or onions ) or some Greek yogurt. Freeze the ‘sauce’ into small serving sizes using ice cube trays, muffin tins or silicone moulds. Once frozen you can pop the smaller portions in a freezer safe container or ziplock.
  2. Add unsweetened peanut butter! Make a celery and peanut butter snack for your pup. HOLD THE RAISINS! Raisins and grapes are toxic for dogs. If the urge to make ants on a log come over you, substitute raisins for pieces of apple or cheese.
  3. CHEESE Crips! Shred 1 cup of each zucchini, Brussels sprouts and Carrots. Mix in with 1/2 cup shredded cheese. Give a good mix and spread evening on a silicone baking mat or parchment paper. Bake at 325F 9165C) for 20 minutes. Cut into small squares while still warm. Store in fridge or freeze!
  4. Does your dog like ice cubes? Chop some veggies into very small pieces, or use a cheese grater. Put a small amount in an ice cube tray and freeze.
  5. Mix it in with their KONG filling! Sneak some small chopped in veggies into their beloved Kong. If you have a go to filler for the kong, dice the veggies small and mix them in. They wont even realize its there!
